This Indian instrument is known for its combination of bass and treble sound. It became more popular after Ustaad Allah Rakha and his son Zakir Hussain gained popularity all over the world. Tabla is used to give rhythm and counts to the songs played and sung. Tabla is known as the two-piece Indian drum, one called bayan and the other called dayan (means left and right in Hindi). It produces mainly the percussion sound and a steady beat played manually. Tabla is all about taals & counts. Tabla is used in Qawwali, Bollywood songs, religious songs, semi-classical music, etc. We train Tabla with the knowledge of taals, counts, different beats and their types, improvising beats, etc.
